Established in 1990, originally as the Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication (SIJC), the Institute was renamed in 1999 as the Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication (SIMC) to enable the Institute to go beyond journalism and introduce other media-related courses in the curriculum in keeping with industry requirements. Going with the times, SIMC has been finally christened Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication. SIMC is a constituent of Symbiosis International University and has evolved into a leading media and communication education and training Institute, providing the industry with trained and competent professionals.SIMC's mission is to serve the multi-faceted needs of the media and communications industry in particular, and society in general, through education, training, research and advocacy. It seeks to develop competent, responsible and innovative professionals in the practice, development and management of media and communication. SIMC offers Masters in Journalism and Audio-Visual Communication and Management degrees in Advertising and Public Relations (MBA – Public Relations & MBA - Advertising). SIMC’s alumni are now well-placed and hold responsible positions across various media.
